Tamada Sake Brewery was founded in 1685 (the second year of the Jōkyō era) when the fourth lord of the Tsugaru domain, Tsugaru Nobumasa, granted the company funds to start a sake brewing business.
The traditional techniques and spirit that have been passed down for over 330 years since the company was founded are still alive and well in Hirosaki.
The man who carries on this tradition and is responsible for today's sake brewing is the 10th generation master brewer, Tamada Kozo. While protecting the brewery and the spirit inherited from his predecessors, he continues to take on the challenge of creating new sake that keeps up with the times.
